An Experiment is an action packed ride which keeps your audience on the edge of their seats, guessing what's going to happen next. Featuring six completely different characters, this dystopian fantasy is sure to engage not only your audiences, but potential actors as well. If you're looking for a competition one-act, this is an excellent competition piece with a minimal set, which travels well. You also have the option of putting full theatrical make up on your characters. We did and the students loved it! In fact they loved everything about the show. I highly recommend An Experiment by Brent Holland.

Great competition piece
"An Experiment" was a really fun, exciting, and challenging piece for my students. The material is dark and thought provoking. The students got to do intense character study, stage combat, and creative makeup styles. We also had fun designing the set and music for the optional ending. Highly recommend.

Students loved it!
My students really enjoyed this. We ordered a perusal and read it in class. The students enjoyed the escalation of conflict and I enjoyed the simplicity of the set. I ordered scripts and immediately began the process of making this our competition piece. The best part for me as a director was having the freedom to cast the best student for each role regardless of gender. Any role can be played by any student! Punches, strangles, knives, and swords, offered an opportunity to teach stage combat skills. The students were stretched as actors and totally bought into the process. I highly recommend this play. Thanks Brent Holland for creating a piece that is logistically easy to travel with for one act competition. You thought of everything!

Really fun play to grapple with physicality
We had a great time with this for an in class play. We did this in a black box format and it was perfect. Great option for allowing students to really grapple with some physicality.

Squid Games For Teens
This is a great small ensemble story where you can really dive in to psychological analysis. This reminded me of the Stanford Prison Experiment and Squid Games. Creepy, suspenseful, and a lot to work with.
Easy set to keep minimal or complex enough to recreate your own labratory environment.
