"This is an incredibly moving and beautiful story. The kids were really invested in it. The audience was blown away by the maturity of the piece and the way the kids handled it." --T.W., Long Trail School, Dorset, VT

Two Sides to Every Show: Making two worlds come to life
We took on this show for our one act state competition. During auditions it was obvious I had the opportunity to split the play into the two worlds without double casting. Our talented and committed actors capable of creating two clearly unique worlds, emphasized by our double sided set. This approach helped bring the fun & whimsy of the fictional world and then drive home the powerful message of loss in the real world. The duality of the two worlds also allowed for lots of parts with gender flexibility with many of the roles. In the end we were able to cast 28, with an additional 7 on crew for this show and everyone is loving it. We won our state out of 23 schools and we are moving on to the region competition. To fully flesh out the story, details matter in this show in the costume and props, especially the weapons to create a quality fight scene. But all of those details allow it to land with all audiences and will guarantee to make your theatre department better if you are up to this challenge.

The audience was in tears!
I was worried when I had to edit the play to fit the time standards of the Minnesota One Act Play rules that the story would be lost but we placed third in the subsection and had the audience literally weeping. We only had 15 actors so some had to play 3 parts but the transitions were seamless. The actors worked very hard to portray the gravitas of the final scene and did an excellent job. I loved directing this play!
