The "Amazing Angel-Man" is both inspiring and challenging
Though the script deals with a very serious topic, there are scenes and characters that add lightness, joy, and fun. Joining James (Angel-Man) and his loyal sidekick (he with too many nicknames to list!) in their imaginative adventures gives ample opportunity for creative blocking and interesting characterizations. To define Angelman Syndrome, there is a delightful game show scene that also surprises the audience as it educates them. Although the family itself struggles with the challenges faced by James, the resolution of the play is beautiful and uplifting . . . and somewhat unexpected.
This is one production that my high school drama team and I will carry with us long after the curtain closes and they all graduate.
