Ever wondered what life in the world’s smallest retirement home is like? Well, then it’s time to visit Harmony Heights. Add four very colorful residents and one extremely versatile (and overworked) employee, and you’ve got a peek into life at Harmony Heights. Retired Army Captain Charlene “Charlie” Freeman, innocent former middle school librarian Vivian Perkins, hippie thespian Shirley Furley, and sarcastic curmudgeon Orville Barrington join their very diverse personalities together to solve a perceived injustice. Everything from an “accidental” intoxication, an emergency five-minute quarantine for a hilarious non-existent disorder, and a closing “performance” featuring the entire cast, make Attention Harmony Heights Residents! a hilarious experience for casts and audiences alike. This show is perfect for performing any time of year by senior actors or younger performers stretching their acting skills.

Behind The Scenes

With Playwright Brian Sylvia

What inspired you to write this play?

I spent several years working as management in a couple of senior living communities. I met some wonderful people and quite a few colorful characters.

What's your favorite part or line in the play?  Why?

We had so much fun watching Vivian on stage after her “accidental intoxication” …and the reveal of Hairston (the “big wig”) required a decent pause for audience laughter.

Where did the characters come from? Are they based on people you know?                        Though no characters are a duplicate of any resident that I knew, they are a broad representation of the amazing people I got to know and love. And, Quinn may or not be loosely based on some of my personal experiences. 😃

What did you try to achieve with this play?

Respectful, family-friendly fun.

Do you have anything else you'd like to add?

As someone of retirement age myself, there’s a little bit of me poured into each of these characters. Harmony Heights has such a fun vibe; definitely a place I’d enjoy being a part of.
